Server and cloud migration without business interruption

We set up new hosting environments and move existing applications, databases and services – planned, tested and with a way back in case something does not go as expected.

Set up new environments, move existing systems safely

There are many reasons for a move: the hosting contract is expiring, the servers are getting old, the provider no longer meets data protection requirements, or costs are rising faster than usage. Whatever the reason, a migration must not put your operations at risk. The data has to arrive in full, and your users should notice as little of the switchover as possible.

We set up new environments and move existing systems in a structured way. Because we also operate applications ourselves, we build the new environment so that it is easy to maintain – with automated processes instead of manual work. If you wish, we then take over ongoing maintenance and support.

What we set up and migrate for you

Cloud and server setup. Servers, networks, firewalls and containers – set up according to a traceable configuration and with automated deployments, so that the environment can be reproduced at any time.

System and data migration. We move applications, databases and files, and check before and after the switchover that all data has arrived completely and correctly.

Transition to live operation. Monitoring, backups and documentation are in place from day one – not only once the first problem occurs.

Office IT and new locations. We roll out Microsoft 365 and set up the IT for new locations, including network, computers and printers.

How to migrate without nasty surprises

It all starts with a thorough inventory: what runs where, and what does it depend on? The inconspicuous things in particular are rarely documented – integrations with other systems, scheduled tasks, e-mail delivery or certificates. Anyone who forgets them during the move only notices when something stops working.

We build the new environment in parallel and test it with a copy of the real data. The switchover takes place at an agreed time, preferably outside your business hours. The old environment remains available until the new one is running stably – so there is always a way back.

From our projects

At the Stuttgart pump specialist Stenger, we introduced Microsoft 365 with e-mail, calendar and file storage and have looked after it ever since – from new accounts to licences and permissions. To connect the service app to the merchandise management system, a lean connector runs on site, and we look after its server as well.

For the Momenth health centre, we set up the IT for new locations and procure and configure computers, printers and tablets – for new staff, too.

How your migration works

  1. Inventory of systems, data and dependencies
  2. Set up the target environment and test it with real data
  3. Switchover at the agreed time with a fallback plan
  4. Documentation and handover to ongoing operation

Frequently asked questions about server and cloud migration

How long will our application be unavailable during the migration?

That depends on the volume of data and how the system is built. We prepare the switchover so that the actual cutover is as short as possible, and schedule it for an agreed time outside your business hours. We will tell you how long the maintenance window is likely to last once the inventory is complete.

Do you also migrate applications you did not develop?

Yes. In that case, we first take more time for the analysis: we get an overview of the application's structure, dependencies and configuration before we plan the move. Any missing documentation is written along the way.

What happens if something goes wrong during the switchover?

Every migration has a fallback plan. The previous environment remains available unchanged until the new one is running stably. If a problem appears after the switchover that cannot be solved quickly, we switch back to the old environment.

Should we modernise the application as part of the move?

We usually keep the two separate: move first, then modernise. That way, every problem can be clearly traced to its cause, and the risk remains manageable. If the software is outdated, we plan the modernisation as the next step.

Do you also take over operations after the migration?

Yes, if you wish, we then take care of updates, backups, monitoring and support. Because we set up the environment ourselves, we know it inside out. Find out more on our Maintenance & Support page.
